I really loved the movie, Forest was great! I would have said of Idi Amin or the future of people, a good book about this is "La Perla Shattered," by Sara Armstrong. The film was made, but could have had more details on how people feel living under his regime. As many media were blocked from entering the country at that time, only the people there could have told a story more real. I did like the location and selection of the scene. Where I am going DVDs to buy this one of my collection, here we go over, when Oscar role on the nominations. However, a good movie, definitely Oscar worthy ... Good Job Forest!
This film does not really do it for me. I knew that going into the movie that Idi Amin was a ruthless dictator, and I left the movie to know as much as when I went in. The film does not completely tell what was happening in the country, is played, but never really committed. And this is the same throughout the movie is brilliant at playing into things, but not to go deeper. The film suffers from several shortcomings. One is a fiction with real characters, which is always a dubious mix. Secondly the main character, the Scots, and it Unlike shortly. Thirdly the end of the film has no tension, and is hastily put together. In addition, the chronology of the film is completely indecipherable. Which apparently takes place over 5 years, but it could be several weeks for all we know. The film is not really in the sense that they do not tell the story of Amin, or the people who killed her. At the end of the film I did not feel any emotion at all. In fact, if you do not know better than just seemed like a kind generous with a little humor. The film makers needed to do better than this if they are to cope with this huge issue, and instead of a study on the mass killings we are given a lint on the position of postgraduate gone sour.
This was a movie that has some possibilities, but ends up all over the place. The main reason is that the Scottish doctor is a weak, pathetic, totally Unlike character whose total lack of early results in a real chaos all around him, including the death of several people, as his girlfriend. Where were killed near the end, frankly I was disappointed that he escaped. Also from a historical point of view I learned very little. The real doctor / dictator relationship was apparently fiction, and since it is the only thing that was actually developed in the film, it is misleading to call based on real events. In particular, the idea that the doctor away with the hostages in Entebbe is totally stupid and unbelievable. It is a great mistake to tell half the story of Entebbe, leave the other half of a line of text before the credits, and grossly distort all the facts to fit the doctor there. Ridiculous. A much better movie could have been done only in Entebbe, and only by complying with the facts (I know a few in the 70s, but it's time for a new one.) In addition, there is no mention that Idi Amin was a Muslim. Of course, is not directly relevant to anything, but you believe in a two-hour movie religion of the plant would come up at least once. I bet they left off to be PC. The only good things about the film are the acting character of Idi Amin, who was always excellent, and the setting, the film work and so on. It looked good. Unfortunately there was such a bad movie.
The fresh new president spoke to his people and promised prosperity. Apparently he is good at speeches because good education still naive young white doctor in the purchase of rhetoric despite the fact that the beautiful Scully warns of the general's agenda. The young doctor was taken in general by his private doctor, and soon driving a Mercedes topless. Of course it does not take long for the young doctor to realize his error in the sentence for which is already too late to make a hasty exit. blah, blah, blah ... Uganda deserves much better. Once again, depth and nuance that is missing in a shot tremendously well with a brilliant film and energetic performance of Whitaker, who somehow does not seem to age at all. It is clear that the film is not too much attention to historical events that is by no means a bad thing per se. Unfortunately, as a thriller that does not just create any tension, and their drafts, if we have to talk about, it could be seen coming miles away. Much of the sub-might well have been excluded and not made any difference. As a drama that was not good, since it chose at random to follow the main characters and not focus on one of them. Our protagonist is not at all sympathetic and their actions were mostly irrational and incomprehensable. And if there was one, this movie already has his point across well before the halfway stage. I think he prefers seen Ghost Dog again. 5 / 10
