| Perhaps if the children of Gatlin, Nebraska has received a visit from Professor Harold Hill and a gang of boys outside, perhaps you may not have killed all their parents. This Stephen King view of the Midwest sure that makes a nostalgic of the Music Man. It is a strange place that couples married Peter Horton and Linda Hamilton have arrived at its journey cross country. It reminded me of driving through Pennsylvania and the Amish country in which you can not get off the Pennsylvania Turnpike for ages, but on both sides of the roads, nothing but woods and on the bridges, Amish carts. This is nothing but corn and Peter Horton, believes that when a child has beaten on the road in search of help and there is none. The city has been taken by the same evil devil his work through a young boy preacher played by John Franklin. All adults have been killed and the children are his disciples. Of course, some of the oldest are reaching puberty and the guy who was the bully in high school Courtney Chafa gains under the leadership of Franklin. He tries a palace coup, something along the lines of old that made him Lucifer in heaven and everyone pays. Children of the Corn is a good adaptation of Stephen King's novel, to please her legion of fans and maybe make some others. |
| with all the recent uproar over horror / supernatural, it is surprising (or not?) how some of the originals are still valid. The pace is great, the court is fast, is the acting, well ... what you might expect. the surprises in the corn field are sometimes predictable, yet nervous - and I think it is a testament to the director, Fritz Kiersch. Where is he now? sorta 'like Paul Brickman, after "risk" - the good movies first, but where'd it go? I have seen in the titles of a few imdb.com Fritz Kiersch movie made since then, but I do not remember them. Who knows, maybe it was just bad management. director's name sounds like maybe it from abroad, so maybe just packed it up after that and left. which is too bad. it might be time for big job now. |
| This is one of my favorite movies. Its about a young couple who find themselves in an isolated town in Nebraska where children have formed a satanic cult and murdered all adults. The film was very good. The isolation of the city, and the children's choir chillling score the music is brilliant. But the writing is not good, but you have to cut slack because it had to write from a short story. I enjoy how the movie gave a lot of information about their beleifs and practices, how they are slaughtered for "anyone who walks behind the rows" in their 19th birthdays. However, as the movie goes on, the special effects are almost laughable and shouldve been avoided. |
